The Kingdom has seen a 15 percent year-on-year increase in international tourist arrivals during the first 10 months of the year.
Based on statistics from the Tourism Ministry, Cambodia welcomed 2.32 million foreign visitors between January and October 2011. This represents a 15 percent increase from 2 million visitors during the same period in 2010.
Around 50% of the tourists travelled by air, 47% by land and the remaining by water ways.
Most tourists came from Vietnam and South Korea, with 516,400 and 273,600 visitors to Cambodia.
Visitors from Thailand dropped 26% to 91,350 due to the border clashes between the two nations earlier this year.
Tourism is one of the key four pillars that support the country’s economy. Last year, the industry registered 2.5 million foreign visitors, contributing $1.75 billion in total revenue.
